This passage from Chapter XVII contains perhaps the most famous of Machiavelli’s statements. Often, his argument that it is better to be feared than loved is taken at face value to suggest that The Prince is a handbook for dictators and tyrants. But a closer reading reveals that Machiavelli’s argument is a logical extension of his assessments of human nature and virtue. While Storytellers, Saints, and Scoundrels raises provocative theoretical issues, it is also a moving human document. Swamiji, with his doll characterizations, inventive mind, and generous spirit, is a memorable character. The book contributes to a growing interdisciplinary literature on narrative.

Scoundrels, a book I return to regularly, is simply a blast from beginning to end. Han and Lando assemble the usual suspects of data slicers, pilots, con men, and roguish ladies into team for a heist mission. Set shortly after A New Hope, Scoundrels is a great book to get a healthy dose of Original Trilogy Han Solo written at his absolute best. Dain and Jessica jump off the pages at you, Dain is definately the lord of scoundrels and at every opportunity puts Jessica down, Jessica gives as good as she gets though, the dialogue is funny and Jessica always has an answer, these two start off as enemies but of course end up in love, what I liked about this book is Jessica and Dain are never far apart page wise so within a couple of pages the fun /5().
